The announcement comes in response to customer demand, due to an increase in product from Australasia being transported into British ports. The industry-wide call for transport and warehousing solutions that also offer environmentally friendly benefits is putting increasing pressure on suppliers to find alternative methods of fulfilling their supply chain requirements.
As the volume of containerised goods arriving at UK ports continues to rise, Port-Centric logistics is an increasingly attractive solution, which allows importers to unpack the container and leave it at the port ready for repositioning. Warehousing facilities at the port ensure goods are stored, loaded and delivered in the most efficient way.
Cert Octavian says advantages such as minimising quay rent, detention-demurrage charges and deep-sea freight costs are now available to customers in the drinks sector. Another benefit is that unpacking and leaving the container at the port effectively eliminates a link from the supply chain and allows for direct transportation from the warehouse to customers, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
