2008 set to be another important year for Doosan January 21st 2008 Already a major player in the UK, Doosan had a successful 2007, introducing a completely new range at IMHX, winning a number of major fleet contracts and raising its international profile with the acquisition of associated businesses such as Bobcat and Babcock Industrial Boilers. Sales are at an all time high and penetration of the UK market has seen the Korean business go from a respected member of the pack, to one of the market’s front runners.
As well as a completely re-designed product range, Doosan also added a 1.0 to 1.6 tonnes 24-volt rear wheel drive electric range; diesel eight to 16-tonnes series; a gas compact range up to 5.5-tonnes and extended the four wheel electric series up to 5-tonnes, taking its product offering up to 99 trucks.
“2007 is going to be a tough year to beat,” says UK general sales manager, Paul Watson, “but we have even more ambitious plans for this year. As well as the record sales, and our FLTA awards nominations, the reception of our new range has been great and our dealer network continues to grow in strength.”
Shortlisted for two of the industry’s ‘Oscars’, Doosan will be looking to make it four in a row at the Forklift Truck Awards in February. The rear grab bar with integrated horn is shortlisted in the safety category – a simple but effective addition to the operator compartment; while the Electronic Inching System on the 16 tonnes capacity D160 allows high precision creep speed movement even when carrying massive loads.
