Free carbon calculator factsheets from TIMCON

Three new Carbon Calculator Factsheets – which report on the carbon intensity of Heat Treated Wooden Pallets; Heat Treated and Kiln Dried Wooden Pallets and Green Wooden Pallets – are freely available as a download from the Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation (TIMCON) website www.timcon.org

Each fact sheet graphically displays the factor of negative carbon intensity of each wooden pallet assessed and reinforces the claim that using materials other than wood for pallets is socially and environmentally irresponsible.

Each report includes the CO2 emissions arising from the materials the pallets are made from, the fuel consumed for timber harvesting and transportation, and the energy consumed for timber drying, pallet manufacturing and transportation of the pallet throughout its lifetime – including recycling.

Five specifications of pallet are featured, highlighting how the different styles and volume of timber involved affect the carbon intensity.
