How to accurately capture and record load data
July 17th 2008

Ever at the forefront of developing electronic weighing technology for use on off-highway vehicles, RDS Technology has increased its focus on data capture and handling with the recent launch of the new Loadmaster i generation of on-board weighing instruments with integral SD card reader.

The Loadmaster has been specially designed to aid data capture in a variety of ways. It has an internal database of 1000 stores, of which 500 can be programmed as 'Customers'. The details of each can be uploaded to the instrument via an SD card or programmed in directly. As IT continues to develop, RDS has kept pace by offering the first on-board weighing system on the market with integrated Bar Code Recognition. Particularly useful in warehouses and yard environments, this innovation speeds up the entry of vehicle, product or other category entered by simply scanning a bar code. The instrument registers this information and weighing proceeds in the normal manner automatically allocating the weight of the load to the category combination.

The integral SD/MMC card reader provides a straightforward transfer of weighing data to a PC and allows management records of customer and product load summaries to be kept. This principle is advanced further by the DMM (Data Management Module) option on the Loadmaster 9000i. This enhanced software feature is centred on the memory card and provides six specific reference fields that could include customer address, vehicle, product, delivery address and source; it also offers the ability to upload customer order information to the weighing system from a PC. Combined with a comprehensive database search facility, the DMM is ideal for detailed record keeping in product and material handling applications.
