Water reservoir for vented batteries June 24th 2008 The latest battery charging innovation from EnerSys is the Hawker Aquafree charger incorporating an automatic watering system. The Hawker Aquafree contains a water reservoir to reduce the amount of operator intervention when topping-up vented batteries with centralised watering systems.
The Aquafree comprises a charger, an electro valve, a water tank with level indicator and pump. Vented batteries with a centralised watering system are topped-up automatically every time they are recharged. The daily check and top up routine is eliminated and the correct electrolyte level is ensured, prolonging battery life.
The blue LED display on the Hawker Aquafree reservoir indicates when the charger’s water level is low. Charging is automatically stopped if there is insufficient water and the safety lock released when the tank has been filled. No mains water connection is required.
Connection is made using a combination plug for both electrical and water supply which enables topping up and charging to occur concurrently. The LED display indicates the Aquafree water reservoir level, charge in progress, battery available and equalisation charge. Depending on the battery capacity and its depth of discharge the water reservoir can last for four months for a 48V 775 Ah battery and up to 30 months for a 24V 200Ah battery. Hawker Aquafree is available in four models and a maintenance contract is available.
