Independence for Linde's heavy trucks
March 14th 2008

Linde Material Handling is creating an independent business unit for its heavy truck division. The company believes that demand for port handling technology, together with the growth of global container traffic and handling, justifies this expansion and focus.

Modular design is the future of heavy and container trucks at Linde, so the trucks can be adapted more quickly to suit the applications required. The company aims to reduce complexity of production and development times and give a quicker turnaround from order to fulfillment.

The C90 will be the first of this new range of products. The truck is an empty container handler with a 9 tonne lifting capacity. It has a hydrostatic drive, with an adjusted hydraulic brake for smoother handling and less wear. No gear pumps result in low rpms and the reverse section mast reduces operating costs by using a 4 chain lift system. A shorter length of lifting cylinder reduces bowing, eliminating cylinder retention problems.
