Relationship set in concrete
March 14th 2008

Windsor Komatsu & Access has secured an order for a further 12 forklift trucks for client Roger Bullivant Ltd, the largest foundation engineering and precast concrete product company in the UK, and Buchan Concrete Solutions Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bullivant.

Bullivant has been a customer of Windsor Komatsu & Access for 14 years. The relationship began with the supply of two 4t diesel forklifts for loading precast concrete and has grown with the rapid expansion of Bullivant’s business. As sole materials handling partner, Windsor now leases Bullivant 40 units and provides a dedicated engineer to visit the site each morning.

When initially selecting a supplier, Bullivant wanted a robust and reliable product that could perform in the arduous conditions of a harsh concrete environment, and a dealer with a local presence offering premium support. Kevin Parker, Bullivant's works manager comments: "Windsor Komatsu & Access rapidly proved that Komatsu equipment outperformed other brands on reliability, durability and productivity, and that its service offering was superior to its competitors'."

The range of forklifts on site varies from 2.5 to 6t. The 3t forklifts (from the Komatsu BX 50 range) are used for the stacking of moulds and beams. One of the benefits of the BX 50 is the tandem hydraulic pump, which gives the fastest lifting speed when idling. This can negate the need for high revving of the engine when stacking, with obvious savings on fuel usage and emissions. Some of the 4t forklifts are used for loading and Windsor has fitted extra wide sideshifts to ensure safe handling of the wide loads of piles and beams.

Windsor Komatsu & Access places great emphasis on building long-term partnerships continually reviewing client needs and offering innovative solutions. Local depots with direct lines to the service manager result in a quick response, keeping downtime to a minimum and providing a focused team with in-depth understanding of individual customer needs. Windsor has a guaranteed call out time of 4 hours with an average time of 2 hours across all 8 of its branches.
