STS launches Drum Mixer units

Further adding to its extensive range of products, STS Safety Trolley Systems has unveiled the DMU01 Drum Mixer that tumbles 200 litre drums end over end through 360˚ offering a fast and efficient way of mixing chemicals.

The unit is designed so that it is easy to load the drum into the rotating head using one of the STS de-palletiser units. This allows a pallet of drums to be placed next to the mixing unit and one operator to do all the loading safely and in compliance with regulations. The system, featuring an interlocked front safety gate, can be electric or air-operated, with the latter option ATEX Certified and suitable for hazardous atmospheres.

How the system works

The operator manoeuvres the drum off the pallet and on to the rotator head base plate using a de-palletiser or other drum lifter. The drum is then securely attached to the rotating head in order to withstand the high forces exerted on the drum during mixing. The gate at the front of the unit is then closed. The rotation is then switched on and the drum rotated sideways end over end. This is the quickest method of achieving a good mix. The rotation speed is adjustable from 0 to 3rpm.

Further units in the pipeline include a variable size model for drums from 25 to 100 litres, and also a unit to mix small drums on a set of rollers… watch this space!
