Braun warehouse refurb cuts breakdowns by 90 per cent November 25th 2008 Automation specialist, MLOG Logistics, has completed a two-phase high-bay warehouse refurbishment project for Braun Oral-B Ireland, resulting in a 90 per cent decrease in equipment breakdowns.
The high-bay warehouse facility includes a four-aisle ASRS featuring two aisle-transferring stacker cranes and approximately 5,350 pallet locations. Braun appointed MLOG to improve availability and extend the lifetime of the technology solution by undertaking a complete overhaul of the controls equipment and adding new safety measures.
The refurbishment project was completed in two stages to ensure the facility was returned, fully operational, in the fastest possible time. During the first phase, MLOG implemented the upgrade programme for the cranes, transfer wagons and shuttle car which was completed and fully-operational in just two weeks. The second phase, installed over a five-day period, added improved safety measures at the facility.
"The overall mechanical state of Braun's equipment was sound," says MLOG's Paul Bradley. "But poor availability of spares for outdated control components was causing downtime. Advances in technology, along with the tightening of health and safety legislation, meant that action was needed."
