Offloading and reloading made easier August 27th 2009 Leading timber supplier Timbmet operates a wide variety of 4-way Combilift models, 19 in all, at its site at Stanford in the Vale in Oxfordshire. Three Combi-CB’s – the latest addition to the Combilift range – are used for handling short width packs of timber as well as longer length flooring. “They have made all aspects of the offloading, storing and reloading procedure much quicker and easier,“ says operations director Philip Trueman.
The Combi-CB is a very compact 4-way counterbalance design truck, developed for operations dealing with a mixture of both palletised and longer length loads. It is a highly manoeuvrable and much more versatile alternative to electric 4-way forklifts, as larger tyres enable easy outdoor and indoor operation. For space saving storage product can be stacked directly from the floor up, enabling 100% use of lower storage areas. It has a lift capacity of 2.5t, integrated side shift and a range of options is also available.
The truck’s ability to work inside containers has been of particular benefit for Timbmet, which unloads around 10 of these on a daily basis, using just the Combi-CB to drive into the container, offload product and take it directly to racking. Common to all the Combilifts on site according to Philip is their flexibility, speed of operation and the ability to allow Timbmet to maximise stock density by operating in narrow aisles.
The current Combilift range now encompasses at least fifteen base models with capacities ranging from 2.5 – 14 tonnes, with LPG, diesel or AC electric power options. More articles from Combilift Limited: |
