Abex MAP 3 makes FLTA finals December 16th 2009 Abex’s contribution to much safer high-level repair and maintenance work has been recognised by the Fork Lift Truck Association, which has selected its MAP 3 mobile access platform as a finalist in the safety category of the 2010 Awards for Excellence.
Abex developed the MAP 3 as an alternative to other access equipment such as ladders and scaffolding which are the most common pieces of equipment associated with falls from height.
MD Martin Connop explains: “High level working always carries a risk, but the MAP3 has helped to eliminate compromises, making it safer and easier to repair windows and bodywork at height.”
The electric powered rechargeable truck is controlled from the platform, is easy to manoeuvre with pinpoint accuracy and can carry up to three personnel and a typical bus or coach windscreen.
The simple and effective design allows the platform to be quickly adjusted to specific bus and coach profiles, ensuring a secure fit.
Other safety features include a locking system, which immobilises the unit when the front gates are moved out of the way for working and extending sidebars for a safe operator environment.
Stable and tilt resilient, the MAP3 has been tested to exceed current legislation.
The FLTA has praised the finalists in the safety category for “making strenuous strides towards safe-guarding employees and companies against preventable tragedies.”
The 2010 award ceremony will be held on February 27th. More articles from Abex Ltd: |
