Combilift Driver of the Year Competition at Health & Safety 09 expo January 26th 2009 Due to the overwhelming success of Combilift’s 2008 Driver of The Year Competition, the company - the global market leader in the 4-way forklift market, has decided to stage the event again this year. The Southern regional heat will be held on the first day of the Health and Safety 09 exhibition at Sandown Park (24th Feb.).
Drivers will need to demonstrate their skills in controlling a standard C4000 Combilift model in all 4 directions around a challenging course, whilst picking up, manoeuvering and exactly positioning a variety of loads such as packs of timber and stillages. This will be timed, with penalty points added for unsafe operation – so quite a test of nerves, particularly when spectators are present.
Combilift’s Paul Hopkinson is coordinating this heat; “We already have a number of entrants on the list, but there are still spaces left”, he says, “so get in touch if you think you are up to the challenge! Last year’s overall winner, Alan Cooper of Timbmet, had only been driving a Combilift for just over a year, and beat some true ‘Combilift veterans’, which proves that everyone is in with a chance to win a place in the final.”
Personnel from leading training provider Mentor Training will once again be on hand to tot up points, and ensure that adjudication is of the highest standard. As well as the practical element, competitors will also have to prove their technical expertise by inspecting a truck and completing a checklist.
The venues and dates for the Midland, Northern and other heats will be announced shortly. See Combilift’s website - www.combilift.com for details.
