Bin lifting and tipping sorted March 31st 2009
A major international food manufacturer was looking for a solution to improve the bin lifting and tipping operation in their UK tea production facility and invited a number of companies to put forward their suggested solutions. Consequently a number of different units were offered that would achieve the task safely but unfortunately they would slow up the production.
Safety was the customer’s prime consideration but if it was possible to find a piece of equipment that would deliver safety and speed of operation then that would be the preferred option.
Company representatives attended the PPMA show at the NEC where they visited the stand of STS Safety Trolley Systems, a UK based design and manufacturing business who specialise in providing high quality bespoke solutions to companies with handling problems.
Following the show Technical Sales Director Colin Jones visited the factory to ascertain exactly what was required. From this one visit STS produced a set of 3D Solid Model CAD drawings of the proposed concept unit along with a detailed quotation.
The customer was impressed with the design that appeared to fulfil their criteria and 4 weeks later the first prototype was delivered for on-site trials which were very successful. The Factory Improvement Manager reported back that everyone was impressed and a few minor design changes were implemented on the production models.
8 bin lifting and tipping units have now been delivered and commissioned onsite. Colin Jones says that this is a good example of the sort of fast track design and build projects undertaken by Safety Trolley Systems. ‘We design handling solutions for handling problems 10 kg to 10 tonnes’
