Netto growing fast with Olivo insulated containers

“Olivo containers save the business a fortune in distribution costs," says Mark Glover, Netto’s Warehouse and Distribution Manager.

Since Olivo containers are already in use for the distribution of frozen products in Denmark from Netto’s automated distribution centre at Koge, it made sense for them to be integrated into the similar distribution system in the UK. By using Olivo containers it is not necessary for Netto to have the complications and expenses of multi-temperature distribution trailers; they simply use single temperature chilled vehicles with the Olivo containers carrying the frozen goods.

An innovative development in Netto’s use of the containers is during the cleaning of frozen food display units in store. Olivo Roll 1400 containers are utilised as a portable means of keeping the food at the correct temperature whilst cleaning takes place, thus ensuring there is no break in the cold chain. These containers are brought down to minus 20 degrees in the distribution centre cold store and delivered to the stores ready for use. As a result, there is no need for costly refrigerated cold stores in the store buildings.
