B&Q to revamp warehouse operations August 16th 2010 Plans for a £77.4m warehouse which will create 550 new jobs in Swindon have been given the go-ahead, reports the BBC.
The borough council has approved B&Q's plans to build the distribution centre on The Triangle Site, near South Marston.
The move follows the DIY company's decision to pull out of centres run by third-parties in Runcorn, Coventry, Chepstow and Swindon.

The developer Gazeley confirmed the plans.
The 98-acre Triangle Site, adjacent to the A419, was first proposed by the Council for new employment uses through its Local Plan in 2002.
This was followed by the approval of a Development Brief and the grant of outline planning permission in October 2008. The development will be known as G.Park Swindon.
The first of the proposed units, for which details have now been submitted, is an 796,649 sq ft bespoke distribution centre for B&Q to service stores in the South. No retail sales will take place from this site.
Don Morgan, planning director of Gazeley said: “The site was selected because of the excellent local transport network, its superb strategic location, and the good quality local labour force. Gazeley specialises in providing leading edge, sustainable buildings aimed at major UK and international companies.” More articles from Handling & Storage Solutions: |
