Easilift Nominee Wins Main Contractor of the Year Award
June 1st 2010

Huddersfield-based Easilift Loading Systems has supplied loading bay equipment and solutions to Bowmer and Kirkland on over 70 projects spanning a period of 20 years on collaborations in the retail sector such as Tesco, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, Next, Boots and B&Q.

Easilift nominated Bowmer and Kirkland for the 2010 Confederation of Construction Specialists Main Contractor of the year award. Managing Director, Rob Fay takes up the story:

“We have worked with Bowmer and Kirkland for many years and I am delighted that they have won the award. Our reasons for nominating them were for their considerate and co-operative attitude to incorporating Easilift Loading Systems into the project plan, and for taking full responsibility for their own scope of works whilst giving full consideration to how they impact on others. We believe that if you want get something done the best way is team-work, and we have a firm belief that team-work should also extend to external stakeholders, so we always include the Main Contractor as part of our team!

If you really want to succeed as a subcontractor operating in the construction industry then you need to build relationships with as many stakeholders as possible. Far too often main contractors keep sub-contractors like ourselves at a distance and don’t involve us enough in the early stages of the project plan.

By building relationships with main contractors we get involved in the early stages of the project plan enabling us to give full consideration to other stakeholders, often being able to influence things so that we avoid many of the problems and challenges you might typically come up against if you are kept at arm’s-length. To some extent we try to be the glue which holds everything else together.”

The Award ceremony took place at the Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly in London.
