Bespoke Handling Solutions
September 24th 2010

STS is a UK based handling equipment manufacturer that specialises in turn-key design and build solutions. They also have a range of standard products that have been developed over the years.

STS Technical Sales Director Colin Jones says ‘STS are pretty unique in the way we are willing to develop a unit from a concept to a full on site trial without the customer committing to the purchase of the unit’.

How This Works

A customer contacts STS and asks for a solution to a particular handling problem they have. We then carry out a site visit to gather all the data and discuss options with the customer. We then produce a proposal with specification, operation details and a fixed price for the unit should the customer decide to purchase it after the site trials.

If the price falls within the customer’s budget for the project we then produce some 3D Solid Model CAD drawings of the unit to help the customer fully evaluate the proposal.

We then manufacture the unit and deliver it to site for a weeks trial. After the week of live use the customer has the opportunity to purchase the unit or have it collected. If the unit is collected, there are no charges made to the customer, not even the delivery charges.

Colin Jones continued ‘This sounds like a risky strategy for STS but it all depends on how good the units are you design. In our experience if you solve the customer’s problem they always want to purchase the unit.’
