Triple A MD wins Essex Businessman of the Year
July 18th 2011

The managing director of haulier Triple A Transport Services Limited has been crowned Essex's Businessman of the Year.

Richard Newbold, whose company is a member of the Pall-Ex network, was presented with the award by newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.

Newbold, who started his career as a truck driver 24 years ago, was named the county's top businessman in front of 800 guests at the Essex Business Awards.

He was presented with the award after growing a portfolio of several profitable companies.

Alongside Triple A, Newbold runs: internet company returnloads.net; Lancaster Homes, a developer based in Surrey; Tilbury Logistics Terminal, a port-based handling company and bookmakers Richard Newbold Racing.

Triple A is a member of the Pall-Ex network, which comprises around 100 hauliers across the UK. In addition to handling palletised freight, Triple A operates a general haulier service and warehousing offer.

Newbold’s companies have won a number of awards before, but on winning his first personal award, he said: "I am delighted to have won this award. It’s a great accolade, which means so much to me due to the fact that it has now become recognised that I am not only increasing employment in Essex, but am trying to improve the image of the haulage industry by creating green and economic efficiencies in the transport industry."
