Samuk shortlisted for FLTA Award January 17th 2012 The New Samuk 3 wheel J series 1.0 – 1.7t 24V AC has been shortlisted by the FLTA technical committee for an award.
Samuk submitted 2 award applications – A ‘low cost of ownership’ diesel and LPG series and the J series 1.0 – 1.7t AC 3 wheel involving a patent application which the FLTA technical committee felt is more creative.
The development of the J series, which is up for the Innovation award, took longer than expected, says Sir Neville Bowman-Shaw. "First we wanted a new step forward for electricity which is likely to be the lower cost of energy bearing in mind newer batteries based on Lithium-ion which is one of 2 or 3 materials.
"Also the probable better control of AC – another step forward. Samuk Hangcha's good luck is that the Curtis UK plant is only 25 miles from Peterborough and has a big factory in China!
"The J series includes an excellent steering control which reduces speed as the lock increases. Another improvement is adjustable speed reduction without moving the load on the forks reducing the need for brakes. Under normal conditions the direction lever can be flicked without applying the brakes."
The J chassis has a fixed wheel base because the variable version reduces the wheelbase when tilting forward with a high load reducing the safety factor. In addition, tyre care and wear is improved by maintaining full wheelbase to reduce the tendency to create flats on the super elastic tyres over night which can take time to eliminate the next day.
"Expect Samuk Hangcha to develop more good ideas with new materials over the next few years," concludes Sir Neville. More articles from Samuk Lift Trucks Limited: |
