Compact with high capacity
April 1st 2004

Italian warehousing equipment manufacturer, OMG, has expanded its range of counterbalance electric trucks to include 2.5 and 3t models. Available through SMV, the new trucks boast an extremely compact design, but rather than raising the counterweight up behind the driver to reduce the footprint, OMG has distributed the counterbalance ballast throughout the chassis. The end result is trucks that are small in appearance with no apparent counterweight, yet very high in capacity. The chassis is of monobloc construction ensuring maximum stability and mechanical strength. This also gives the trucks high residual capacities, even at the highest lift height. Separately excited motors capable of meeting the most demanding requirements deliver the required power under all load conditions, without any impact on the travel speed. The driving position and layout of all the controls have been ergonomically designed for driver efficiency and comfort. The LOGIC control panel provides a digital display of the battery discharge, the operating hours, turning wheel position and automatically blocks lifting functions when the battery is discharged. The new trucks complement the existing range of counterbalance trucks with capacities from 800kg up to 2t. The 800 and 1000kg units retain capacity at height in a compact design by having no tilt rams on the mast. Instead, the mast is fixed to the front of the truck and the load is tilted via a hydraulic ram on the back wheel.
