Simple to use, inexpensive to own April 1st 2004 Those who visited the first IMHX in 2001 may well recall that one of the main talking points of the exhibition was Stills RXX concept truck. Visitors to this years show saw on display for the first time the companys new RX-50 three-wheel truck. Bearing more than a passing resemblance to its concept predecessor, the RX-50 incorporates many innovative features first seen on the RXX.
Stills objectives for the RX-50 were that it should be simple to use and inexpensive to own and operate. The result is a truck that offers ease and comfort for drivers of any size and shape. Highly manoeuvrable, it is also easy to learn to drive.
The 24V 3-phase drive puts 12% more power onto the ground compared to its predecessor the worlds biggest selling three-wheel truck for over two decades.
The extendible wheelbase, combined with single motor rear wheel drive, requires less aisle width and enhances stability and efficiency. It is reported to reduce energy consumption by up to 30% in comparison with twin-motor front wheel drive configurations. It also gives maximum contact pressure on the drive wheel for superior traction.
Energy feedback when the drive pedal is released provides further savings of up to 15% and maintenance intervals have been doubled from 500 to 1000 hours.`
Five drive programmes allow the units response characteristics to be adjusted to suit any application. More articles from Still Materials Handling: |
