Maximises use of space and increases accuracy April 1st 2007 Keymas-Egemin has provided Hansen Transmissions with a warehouse solution designed to reconsolidate goods and supply consolidated orders to production, assembly and despatch divisions. The goods handled vary in type and dimension, ranging from millimetres to metres in length. The new system maximises use of available space, provides safe handling methods and order picking accuracy, as well as increasing the processing speed enabling just-in-time deliveries. Various technologies have been combined to accommodate the wide range of goods – using Egemin automatic pallet warehousing to handle the majority of goods, Kardex Shuttles for small, lightweight items and storage space located in conventional racks for large heavy items. Goods are picked using the goods-to-man principle allowing automatic selection of items in store and consequent delivery to warehouse personnel. The E'wms warehouse management system manages the pick process and provides track and trace of parts flowing through the warehouse, as well as production data and an accurate inventory of goods in store.
