Distribution picking containers April 1st 2004 Staffordshire-based ABC SPAX Screws dispatches precision-made screws throughout the UK. The company imports the product from its main German factory, distributing as many as 14m pre-packed screws per week.
In the past the imported screws would be unloaded, separated and emptied into cardboard boxes on racking. To allow picking, the front of the boxes would be torn off. This meant they needed replacing after only a few uses.
Having seen plastic crates from Allibert Buckhorn used at a customers site to store, pick and distribute small parts, ABC decided to investigate the potential for its own operation. The company now uses over 700 Distribution Picking Containers, resulting in major improvements in workflow. More articles from Allibert Helix: |
