Double deckers cut costs and CO2 October 1st 2007 Royal Mail has taken
delivery of 140 double-deck
trailers designed by The
Cartwright Group, with the
capacity to hold 50 per cent
more than conventional
units.
Vehicle features include:
A moving floor which can
be loaded and then raised
up to the trailer roof to
create additional load space
underneath
A 'mega' lift suspension
which raises and lowers to
allow both decks to be
presented at dock height
An onboard power pack
which allows the trailer to
be loaded and
unloaded
without
the
need for a towing vehicle to
be coupled
Full compatibility with
Royal Mail's current towing
vehicle fleet, which
alleviates the need for a
specialist towing vehicle.
The trailers are the latest
in a line of measures made
by Royal Mail to reduce CO2
emissions from its
transport, which it claims to
have cut by 28 per cent
since 2003. More articles from The Cartwright Group: |
