Extensive refurbishment

Schmitz Cargobull has completed an extensive refurbishment at its A1 used trailer centre in Maldon, Essex.

The two-acre site has space for over 100 trailers as well as offices and a workshop.

An extensive range of both curtainsided and refrigerated models are held at the facility, which serves the whole of the UK Last year A1 sold approaching 400 trailer units and expects to surpass that figure this year. According to managing director, Derek Wright, the market is being driven by high demand for used trailers from overseas operators – particularly those based in Eastern Europe.

"There is no shortage of trailers built to the UK specification of over four metres high," explains Derek Wright, "but European spec models are becoming more difficult to come by.
