New £30 million national hub February 1st 2009 What's believed to be the
UK's single largest pallet
distribution centre was
opened in January following
a £30million investment by
palletised transport network,
Palletforce.
The new hub, overlooks
the A38 at Burton-on-Trent,
Staffordshire, and will act as
a nerve centre for the
overnight delivery of
palletised goods across the
UK and Europe.
Eighty staff will work at
the 380,000ft2 distribution
hub, which is so big that it
could house eight football
pitches… or 1,736 double
deck buses end to end. The
hub will operate 24 hours a
day. 'Smart technologies' will
give faster delivery
turnaround and an efficient
transport distribution
operation.
"This fantastic new Hub
will ensure that we are well
positioned to provide a
competitive and quality
service as the UK economy
faces challenging times
ahead," says Michael
Conroy, CEO of Palletforce.
"Hub-driven network
distribution provides fast,
high-density movement of
palletised freight, which is
environmentally responsible
and cost effective." More articles from PalletFORCE plc: |
