Environmental and economical benefits

Recognition of the environmental, hygienic and economical benefits of returnable transit packaging has led Budgens Stores to award a multi-million pound four year contract to RTP specialist, Hays Logistics. Rather than use one trip disposable cartons, suppliers of fresh produce and chilled goods will now collect and hire blank crates from Hays, through its Asset Control Solution Divisions Milton Keynes wash centre. When delivered the crates will be used in-store for display, after which they will be transported to Budgens' distribution centre, then on to the wash centre. Within the pool there will be four million movements each year. This is made possible by Hays sophisticated yet simple to use IT programme.
