Dock leveller doors replaced on five bays April 1st 2007 When logistics experts TDG (UK) decided that the existing dock leveller doors on five loading bays at its handling plant in Thetford needed replacing, the company called in the roller shutter door and dock leveller supplier, Ro-Dor. Ro-Dor's PVC roller shutter doors are widely used throughout every part of the UK food industry in preparation areas, processing departments and chill rooms. The company also supplies dock levellers to assist the efficient loading or unloading of goods vehicles. The task that faced Ro- Dor was to supply and fit all five roller shutter doors during one weekend. The company's team of specialist engineers had to remove the old doors and fit the new models together with stiffening bars and windlock washers for added protection during windy weather. An internal electric push button control with an interface facility was included so that the leveller would not operate until the door opened. Four of the doors measured 2.3m wide by 2.5m high, while the fifth was much larger at 2m wide by 3.4m in height. Ro-Dors are manufactured to exact specifications using double-skinned PVCu lathes which provide good thermal insulation and help to retain ambient temperatures.
