Caddies are not just for golfers April 1st 2008 CaddyPick is a semiautomated
case orderpicking
system from
Swisslog. Based on two
modules, a
replenishment &
warehouse module and a
picking module,
CaddyPick combines
zone-to-zone and manto-
goods picking
solutions.
The caddy (monorail
carrier) transports the
order unit (roll cage or
pallet) moving
automatically through
the picking aisles.
Each caddy has a
weighing system to
ensure highly reliable
picking. The system
verifies that the
picked goods weight
equals the onscreen
ordered goods
weight. The screen
also shows picking
orderlines with
highlighted picking
locations. Orders are
automatically
acknowledged.
Full pallet orders
are automatically
transported to the
dispatch area. The
caddy can also store
packaging material and
empty pallets that can be
removed by automated
stations before CaddyPick
starts the next order.
Compared to more
manual solutions, CaddyPick
streamlines all processes by
using automated procedures
for transport, putaway and
replenishment. It also
reduces errors through its
weight monitoring facility
and picking orderlines
screen. Without pallet
trucks, the working
environment is also quiet. More articles from Swisslog (UK) Ltd: |
