High-speed high read rates
June 1st 2008 VICAM-ssi2 is a new highspeed,
line-scan camera
from Vitronic for use in
automated parcel handling
systems. It captures highresolution
images of parcel
labels, to enable high-speed,
automated parcel sortation.
VICAM-ssi2 is lightweight
and cost effective, and
energy efficient. Vitronic
says by using VICAM-ssi2,
operators can achieve read
rates approaching 100%
including identifying dirty,
damaged or marked codes,
hand written address
information and supplier
numbers. This leads to very
high levels of parcel
handling efficiency.
VICAM-ssi2 features an
advanced, high-speed
focussing mechanism
with variable lens
types, which allows
the camera to capture
quality images of
parcels travelling at speeds
of 4.5m/sec. An LED
illumination unit
automatically adjusts light
intensity. Energy
consumption is low with
highly efficient LED's, an
optimised lens and an
