Opportunity knocks

Centura Foods, has been using plastic two-piece pallets for around 20 years to carry bulk FBICs (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) with a varying level of satisfaction.

Problems encountered have included peripheral and structural damage to the pallets. They have also proved very difficult to keep clean; when the pallets got damaged an ingress of water was possible, creating an inaccessible bug trap – unacceptable in a food environment.

So when rising oil prices had a knock on effect on the price of plastics, Centura had started to question whether it was really getting value for money. A chance offer to sample high performance, H3 pallets from Craemer Plastic Pallets came at just Opportunity knocks the right time. Centura found these pallets to be more durable, more cost effective and more hygienic than twopiece pallets and is now replacing its old pallets.
