No tears with Crocodile
April 1st 2005

Crocodile Packaging has developed a range of solutions to the problem of safely transporting fibre-optic cable for Tyco Electronics.

The upcoming implementation of ISPM15 rules concerning wooden export packaging added another element to Tyco’s packaging requirements – fortunately, Crocodile has focused on developing ISPM15-exempt wooden packaging and was easily able to address this issue. Crocodile designed a new handling system for Tyco which involves the packing of cable drums within a protective outer clippedtogether shipping case. The system allows double stacking of drums, making maximum use of the available container volume and improving shipping efficiency by over 40% in some instances, according to the company.

Significantly, the outer box also provides a high level of protection to the delicate fibre-optic cable, averting potentially expensive damage to long lengths of cable.
