Loads of costs savings claimed
April 1st 2004

Designed to make the distribution of pallet loads safer, more cost effective and less wasteful, the Loadhog, from a company of the same name, is a robust plastic lid, the size of a standard pallet, with two or four retractable straps. One end of each strap is connected to a spool via a ratcheted, adjustable tensioning device in the lid. The other has a hook that fits under one of the pallet cross members. Once a pallet is stacked with boxes, the lid which is light enough to be lifted by one person, is placed over the load. Without bending, the hook is drawn out, placed either side of the centre runner and the webbing tensioned using a ratchet. The company claims Loadhog will eliminate thousands of tonnes of strapping and shrink wrapping used to secure loads to wooden or plastic pallets. Sizes are offered: 1200 by 1000mm; 800 by 1200mm; and 600 by 800mm.
