Quick, cost effective solution June 1st 2004 When the Port of Port Arthur on the Texas gulf coast needed additional dockside warehouse space it turned to Rubb Buildings associate company in the US, Rubb Inc. to provide an innovative, quick, cost effective solution.
Rubb provided a 67m (220) wide by 160m (525) BVE range bi-link building with 9.76m (32) sidewalls, which provides an additional 100,000ft2 of transit storage, as well as covering the ports railroad siding.
The building was designed to meet the stringent Texas Gulf Coast building code requirements, including winds of 130mph.
The building features six 10.97m (36) wide by 7.3m (24) high bi-parting Norco doors for access on dockside as well as access through the ends of the building. Two 5.5m (18) wide Norco single panel sliding doors provide additional access.
The lighting system was designed so that the lights are automatically turned off during daylight hours when the white translucent roof membrane provides a bright working environment. This will also conserve energy for the port.
Rubb structures feature a well designed steel frame which is hot dip galvanized after fabrication. This lattice type steel truss framework is
covered by a heavy duty, high quality PVC coated architectural membrane.
The project took only seven months to complete and cost the Port of Port Arthur less than conventional construction. More articles from Rubb Building Systems: |
