A winner with the race team December 1st 2003 Success in motor racing is based on many factors, including efficient engineering back-up. The Collard Racing team in Eversley, Hampshire, relies on a Southworth Handling Dandy lift to move engine and gear box assemblies that are difficult to manipulate due to their size, weight and awkward shape.
The Dandy Lift 250 is used both at race meetings and in the workshop. When an engine has to be maintained or replaced, the car is jacked up to allow sufficient clearance for the collapsed scissor lift to be wheeled beneath it. Once in position, the lift table is raised by pedal to support the engine, gear box and sub-frame.
It is then withdrawn from the body of the car and moved in complete safety and with minimal effort to an area where the necessary work can be carried out. Once work is complete, the process is reversed.
The Dandy Lift is a four-wheeled lifting trolley with hand lever lowering controls. It has a safe working load of 250kg and a lowered height of 245mm. Fully raised, operating height is 800mm. It weighs just 54kg. More articles from Southworth Handling Ltd: |
