To avoid prosecution, users must specify tanks which, according to the EAs Pollution Prevention Guidelines PPG2, are tested to a recognised standard such as BSEN ISO 9001:2000 or BSEN 9002:1994. Tanks should also be installed by technicians registered with a professional body, such as the Oil Fired Technical Association for the Petroleum Industry (OFTEC), and must incorporate a secondary containment system such as a bund, which provides storage of at least 110% of the tanks maximum capacity. All valves, filters, sight gauges, etc, must be fitted within the secondary containment system. The EA also recommends weekly tank inspections to detect early signs of damage.
Balmoral offers the widest choice of accredited and approved liquid storage tanks to the domestic and commercial market across Europe. |
