Secure storage solutions at IMHX February 1st 2007 The materials handling specialist Kardex is to showcase its latest intelligent storage and retrieval solutions on Stand R130, Hall 17 at IMHX 2007. Kardex specialises in fast, high density automated carousels and lift based storage and retrieval systems that enable the saving of up to 80 percent of floor space compared to conventional solutions. Traditional solutions for storage and retrieval of components have high floor space requirements and often result in time lost due to part pickers having to cover large distances, searching for critical components. One solution for increasing storage density and minimising component retrieval times in the warehouse according to Kardex, is the Shuttle XPlus. The Shuttle XPlus is a vertical lift-based storage system that unlike traditional solutions, automatically detects the height of items placed within it and allocates internal storage space to maximise capacity. Operating on the principle of 'goods-toman' the system can provide access to up to 240 tonnes of components from one opening and minimises picking time by shuttling internal storage trays at up to 2.2 meters per second. "At the IMHX 2007 Kardex will be demonstrating how systems like the Shuttle XPlus and Sentinel can enable businesses to become more competitive by driving productivity and improving space efficiency. Additionally, Kardex representatives will be on hand to advise upon the best methods for solving your company specific materials handling issues" explains Clive Williams, the UK sales manager for Kardex based in Epping. Alongside the Shuttle XPlus at the IMHX 2007 will be the Kardex Sentinel, a high density vertical carousel based on the proven Industriever platform that provides fast and flexible control over the storage and retrieval of mission critical components and high value stock. Focussed on security, the Sentinel features independent picking doors that ensure the operator has access only to the items requested and provides higher operator accountability than traditional solutions. "The Kardex team look forward to meeting representatives from leading businesses at the IMHX event interested in developing their operations and learning more about how the storage and retrieval process can be improved", says Williams.
