Automated system lifts productivity

A Cargo Lift automated vertical storage and picking system from Couzens Storage Solutions is helping precision turning specialist Qualiturn Products save space, raise productivity and improve stock management.

The 7.5m high unit holds raw materials to feed Hertford-based Qualiturn's 18 CNC turning machines, with up to 500kg of mixed bar stock to 3m in length, in each of the Cargo Lift's 65 trays.

Almost all stock is held in a footprint of just 4 by 4m, which has freed space for two more CNC lathes.

Operators access the Cargo Lift using a biometric log-in process based on individual fingerprints. Trays move up and down at up to 2.3m/sec.
