Automated packaging of small and long items

Enabling the automation of expensive manual operations, automated packaging machinery supplier, Angus & Wright has launched two new machines to cater for small and long items.

Packaging materials are supplied to Angus & Wright exclusively by BSK, part of DS Smith Plastics.

The Coldseal 4500 range is designed for smaller items that can be packaged in pouches up to 51cm deep in widths of 15 or 30cm, with the machine sensing and adjusting automatically to different lengths.

Up to 50 units a minute can be packed safely and efficiently.

The Coldseal 800 range caters for objects up to 6m long with a maximum width of 38cm. At the shorter end of the scale, it can process 40 units per minute and 20 units per minute for longer items.

Both machines feature touch screen controls, photo-electric cells, Siemens electronics and pneumatic spindles. As no heating is required for the coldseal process, the machines are economical to use.

Other benefits include a reduction in waste material, energy consumption and labour costs.
