Automated system benefits
October 1st 2004 Diamond Phoenix has helped create a new state of the art automated facility for Imagistics, supplier of fax and copier parts and supplies. The new facility is managed by 3PL company, BAX Global.
Diamond Phoenix was selected to design and build a state of the art automated system, primarily focused on piece picking to support repair parts and distribution to copier suppliers. This includes an integrated solution for the centre, based on a zone picking system.
The new system is reported to have resulted in numerous benefits for Imagistics, such as reduced conveyor investment through the efficient combination of automated pick to light and carousels, 2 to 1 labour savings in the pick-to-light area and 3 to 1 labour savings in the carousel area, and floor space savings of around 50% over traditional shelving.
