Ramp reduces offloading time October 1st 2004 A mobile yard ramp from the RentARamp division of ThorWorld has reduced the time taken to offload fishing boats at Scrabster Harbour, Caithness.
A forklift tows the mobile yard ramp into position alongside a trawler. It then drives up the ramp, collects the boxes of fish and loads them straight into container vehicles for delivery.
With a capacity of 10,000kg the ramp is 12.2m long with an overall width of 2.5m over its entire length and a usable width of 2.25m. It has built-in high side rails and curbs for added safety.
Of rugged construction, it is available with an aluminium or steel structure. A serrated open grid deck provides positive traction in all weather conditions. A hand operated hydraulic pump raises it to the required height, while a built-in tow bar allows it to be quickly and easily moved by forklift.
The ramp was originally supplied on a trial basis by associate company, Newmec of Surrey. More articles from Thorworld Industries: |
