Greener, safer packaging August 1st 2007 Interactive Packaging
Solutions says it is sensitive
to the wider issues
associated with packaging.
In addition to the immediate
requirements of packaging,
IPS is concerned with the
strategic issues including
logistics and the
environment. An example of
this consultancy in action is
the heat-treated plyboard
clip cases, which were tailor
made for a major UK
manufacturer of medical
and scientific instruments.
The steel clips can be
unclipped to enable the
entire case to be re-used.
The cases use laminated
panels, which are heattreated
to kill pests typically
found in untreated rawwood
packaging. These
pests – including the Asian
long-horn beetle and Pine
Wood Nematode – have
spread across the world
through wooden packaging
materials, which has
prompted many countries to
introduce regulations to ban
their use. IPS also recognises
that the re-use and recycling
of packaging
materials is an important
and irreversible tend. "As
well as the wide range of
environmental measures we
can help put in place, IPS is
also a registered re-cycler of
both proprietary and other
company's packaging
materials," says managing
director Andrew Laundy. More articles from Interactive Packaging Solutions Ltd: |
