Ironing out logistics difficulties with new packaging

major retailer, SCA
Packaging's Industrial
Division has developed a
bulk packaging solution
for ironing boards.
The model is designed
to overcome storage and
handling issues and
make logistics operations
easier.
The ironing boards are
stood upright and
stowed in a walk-in pack,
consisting of a three
sided sleeve with
removable front pad.
This facilitates loading
of the case and allows
individual products to be
picked directly from it as
required. This removes
any issues associated
with product overhang.
The new pack is said
to be quick to assemble,
cases of ironing boards
can be stacked, reducing
the amount of storage
space required.
The pack offers a
reduction in stock losses
to the customer thanks
to reduced product
damage rates, and can
also be red-used within
the distribution centre.
