Fashioning answers to workflow February 1st 2007 Continued growth led Jane Norman to consolidate a number of small storage and distribution warehouses in North London into a much larger and modern facility in Coventry. CI Logistics was chosen to contribute to the expansion. The challenge was to coordinate the disparate storage requirements; hanging garments, boxed goods and pallets into an efficient, flexible and cost efficient workflow solution. With a careful layout design incorporating a number of different products from the CI Logistics portfolio including; pallet racking, longspan shelving for boxed goods and Hook-In garment racking, suitable storage, appropriate for each type o product was obtained. In addition, Tectrac the overhead monorail trolley system was used to transport garments to the collation and despatch area. By using a tried and tested methodology of static, low-level benching and lineshaft roller conveyors in combination with transfer units and powered roller bends – once again from the CI Logistics product portfolio – shipping boxes, once filled, can be moved quickly to a shrinkwrap system which ensures tamper-proof security sealing. Having an in-house controls design and manufacturing capability again emphasises the 'total package' approach by CI Logistics. More articles from CI Logistics: |
