Furnished with racking December 1st 2008 Alphason Designs, maker of
furniture for in-home audiovisual
equipment, has
consolidated its warehouse
and manufacturing
operations into one facility
in Wigan, with help from.
LINPAC Storage Systems.
The company wanted to
increase storage capacity to
8500 pallet spaces in order
to deal with increasing stock
and distribution demands.
Improvements included
moving some existing
adjustable pallet racking
(APR) from the old site to
the new warehouse and
installing it with new APR
from LINPAC. A challenge
was posed by Alphason's
insurance company which
insisted on an in-rack
sprinkler system in the less
dense APR bays.
Two sprinkler systems
were installed: an Early
Suppression Fast Response
system in the dense bulk
section, and an in-rack
system in the other area.
With the in-rack system, the
higher the racking, the more
levels of in-rack sprinkler are
needed. Five-high APR was
installed, which requires just
two levels of in-rack
sprinklers per run of racking.
This leaves Alphason with
the potential to add a
further level should it be
needed. More articles from LINPAC Storage Systems Limited: |
