New alternative to drive-in October 1st 2009 New from e-racking is the Pallet
Mole semi-automated pallet satellite
storage system, offering an
alternative to drive-in racking and
pallet live storage.
Unlike drive in racking, where the
operator drives the forklift into the
rack and places the pallet on two
stub arms either side of the rack, the
Mole system uses a separate running
rail under the conventional drive-in
rail. The operator only has to put the
pallet down at the end of the rack
and the Mole takes the pallet away.
Retrieval is just a reversal of this
procedure.
According to e-racking, the Pallet
Mole is more stable than drive-in
systems, as well as being more space
efficient and less costly to operate.
There is less chance of damage to the
racking from the forklifts, which also
have to do less work. More articles from E-Racking Ltd (Insolvent FEB 2010): |
