Pallet racking for heavy weights
December 1st 2006

An overall 20% increase in storage and handling productivity is being attributed directly to a versatile pallet racking installation completed by Link 51 for Alan Symonds – importers and distributors of curtain fabrics, cushions, throws and allied products.

The installation is at the heart of a new 30,000ft2 warehouse in Peterborough.

The racking provides a combination of low level picking locations and bulk storage at higher levels, all of which have been designed to accommodate heavy material weights – a maximum UDL per level of 2000kg in the higher storage areas with the shelves below having a maximum capacity of 110kg.

The Link 51 design enables the company to react to immediate day-today order requirements for both ready made products and material bolts coming in from the wholesale and retail sector across the UK, and to hold sufficient replenishment stocks to ensure continuous operation.

A three metre wide access aisle throughout accommodates forklift truck movement with full advantage also taken of the overall height of the building.
