Protecting operatives in picking areas February 1st 2007 One of the most significant dangers in a warehouse is where a picking operative is carrying out his duties in one aisle whilst a forklift truck is in the adjacent aisle putting away palletised product. In some cases, the action of the truck driver could dislodge product immediately above the active picking location where the operative is working. L'Oréal asked warehouse safety specialists RPM to provide a product which could eliminate the problem. The RPM anti-push system involves suspending steel framed mesh panels within the void between double sided racking. The system ensures that picking staff remain safer in the warehouse. It can be fitted as part of the original racking installation or, as at L'Oréal, as a retrofit. More articles from Racking Protection And Management Ltd: |
