Racking & picking is child's play
December 1st 2008 A new pallet racking bulk
store area and multi-level
picking module with an
integrated conveyor system
has been installed by SSI
Schaefer at nursery supplier,
Kiddicare's warehouse.
The new pallet racking
bulk store consists of
approximately 3,500 double
deep pallet positions while
the picking module has a
ground level plus three
walkway levels that
incorporates a dynamic pick
from pallet and unit storage
system using a twin track
combined with carton live
storage picking.
The pallet pick area has a
total of 300 picking locations
capable of storing over 600
pallets while the carton live
storage has 800 picking
locations with a storage
capacity of 2400 cartons.
The conveyor system,
supplied is designed using
lowerators, descending only
lifts, to send picked items for
packing and dispatch to
either email customers or
customer collection within
the shop. Long span decked
racking has also been
supplied and installed within
the dispatch area for
