Addressing burning storage issues December 1st 2007 Temporary buildings can be
delivered and erected quickly
with minimal site preparation
giving a quick fix or longerterm
solution, says Aganto.
Structures are commonly
erected on a multitude of
surfaces and lend themselves
to undulating surfaces and
sites with gradients. In
certain disaster situations an
average size building can be
erected and fully functional
within days.
The overall flexibility of the
temporary structure is
further enhanced by the
option of relocating the
building. If a customer has a
two to three year lease on a
site, it may be more prudent
to purchase rather than hire.
When the customer moves
site the structure can be
dismantled and re-erected in
a different location.
Buildings can be modular
or bespoke and are used for
a large number of
applications. Traditionally
they have been used for
warehousing, but the
versatility of the storage
structure lends itself to a
wide range of uses from
classrooms to garden
centres, gymnasiums to
workshops, curing areas to
fire stations, cafeterias to
aircraft hangers. Poole Fire
Station, is one such example.
The station needed
modernising and the most
cost effective way to do this
was to knock down the
existing building and build a
new station. Aganto supplied
an insulated structure 20m
wide x 15m long. The
building needed to conform
and comply with the
expectations of a fully
functioning 24 hour fire
station, so additional feature
were included within the
structure to enable this,
including specialist rapid rise
doors as featured in most UK
fire stations. A special sub
frame was designed and
installed to enable door
operation and a traffic light
system was also fitted to
work in conjunction with the
doors.
By hiring the structure
Dorset Fire and Rescue
Service were able to solve a
very unique problem, as
temporary fire stations are
not readily available. More articles from Aganto Ltd: |
